Mindfulness-Based Education Program at Centered
Centered Recovery is proud of its mindfulness-based, strong educational program that has helped hundreds of clients understand their addiction and move past it forever. It is the cornerstone of our facility, and it is what truly sets us apart from other treatment centers. The World Health Organization says the following:
We also understand the power of a holistic recovery–one that takes into account each client’s body, mental, emotional, and spiritual understanding, so we offer so much more than just the educational component. What else do we offer in addition to the amazing educational classes led by addiction and relapse prevention experts?
Mindful Meditation:
Study after study shows the benefits of mindful meditation for emotional and spiritual well-being. Each day, each class or group includes body scan meditation, gratefulness meditation, or simple meditation for grounding and clarity, because the world outside is busy, and the world inside our minds can be even busier! The simple reconnection to the present moment helps our clients (and us!) be more alert, more engaged, and more able to hear the very thing that might change our lives.
Gentle Yoga:
Yoga stretches help the body heal itself after even short periods of neglect, help the blood flow, and help alleviate symptoms of pain or discomfort. It’s almost impossible to feel good if your body is uncomfortable, so we incorporate gentle, mindful yoga and stretching into our classes and various intervals to allow our clients to move their way into better health. There’s no need for fancy equipment–simple stretches can be done by anyone at any level of health, even seated! We also have a dedicated, private room stocked with soft lighting, calming sounds, and plenty of yoga mats for all.
Art and Music Therapy:
There’s a difference between art in therapy and real art therapy, and Centered Recovery provides both. Art in therapy is simply engaging in artistic activities, understanding that the very nature of being creative can be therapeutic and relaxing, and this allows our clients to step outside their problems for a short time in order to be fully present for the hard work of recovery. Art therapy is provided by a certified art therapist, in private individual sessions and is used as part of the healing process, to allow our clients to open up or express things they may not realize or be comfortable with verbalizing. Music therapy is a fun way to let go of habitual thinking, reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention:
This research-based program is part of our core program of classes and is offered at least once per week by a licensed clinician. In this class, clients engage in a number of mindfulness exercises designed to help them slow down and increase their awareness in their every day life. Clients love the “mindful walk” exercise almost as much as the “mindful chocolate” class!
Aftercare and Digital Meetings:
Our clients know that when they are “finished” with their treatment program, they can continue to enrich their education and understanding of their experience, habits, and addiction with flexible drop in classes! Even those who work full time can still take advantage of our evening educational groups offered three nights a week. Away from home, or feeling ill? We’ve got that covered, too, with our digital meetings online (check in anonymously or use video streaming to participate and ask questions!) and private Facebook group. Our clients enjoy being able to stay connected to their support system, get the latest news on upcoming events and talks, and have full access to private articles, informational talks, and blogs about mindfulness, mental health, and recovery…that doesn’t end just because you’ve left treatment!
In addition:
All of the classes, group therapy, individual processing groups, and individual therapy sessions are led by a licensed clinician or relapse prevention expert–something most treatment facilities overlook. When you’re paying for treatment, don’t you want educated, licensed clinicians or experts in the field rather than someone who just “knows about” addiction? From the first class to our aftercare program, having qualified professionals share information, facilitate discussions, and lead group meetings means the difference at Centered Recovery is obvious.
