Nicole Denman, LPC
We know it can be daunting to get help for mental health and addiction issues. It is hard to know what facility is the best addiction treatment center in your area, and what will be personally best for you. We recommend calling and speaking directly with a staff member at the facility you are considering–not a phone rep in another state who has likely never even been to the facility! When you call Centered at 678-977-6467, you are speaking with Reed Smith, the cofounder who also happens to teach at least two groups per week, so you’re getting a true glimpse of what your experience will look like when you enroll in services with Centered. Since you can’t always speak to every staff member at Centered as they are usually busy helping our amazing clients, here’s a brief glimpse about one of our licensed clinicians, Nicole Denman!
Nicole Denman, Primary Clinician
Nicole Denman, LPC, serves as a primary clinician for clients at Centered. has been a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor since 2007. She specializes in working with depression, anxiety, trauma reactions, and grief and loss. She utilizes CBT, trauma-focused CBT, and person-centered therapy to help our clients focus on their individual strengths and learn how to build upon those to help create a clear path for clients to be able to thrive and be the best version of themselves.
What drew you to work in the mental health field?
From the time I was young, I was always a caretaker and empathetic person. Being a therapist allows me to use my strengths to find joy and meaning in my work. I can honestly say that when I get up each day, I look forward to my job and the people I will get to meet and interact with.
Where are you originally from? What do you like most about the Atlanta/Georgia area?
I am originally from a very small town in Ohio (think 1 stop light and less than 500 people). My favorite part of living in Georgia is seeing the sunshine in the winter and being able to get outdoors even in January!
What is your favorite part about your work at Centered?
Just getting started here, but so far I like the friendly people – staff and clients.
Do you have family/friends/pets you’d like to share with us?
I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have an 8-year-old daughter. Our family also hosts an exchange student every school year. We have had 4 students from Spain and one from Germany. We currently have a 15-year-old Spanish girl from Madrid and went on a three-week trip to Spain this summer to visit and catch up with all our families there!
What is your favorite book or movie of all time, and why do you like it?
My favorite book/movie series of all time is Harry Potter. I love the development of the characters and the different relationships that can be seen throughout the series. Every time I re-read the books or watch the movies I pick up on something else, depending on what is going on in my own life.
